Advice from my highest angels today is “Lighten up!” i.e. “Don’t be so serious.” and “Absorb more heavenly light.” “I never get hungry” is a “symbolic symptom” = a loss of appetite for life. Want to do something about this? You’re hungry for change. What is stress? It’s a factor that can cause emotions and thoughts to start feeding on each other negatively. Stress can cause the sympathetic nervous system to go into the fight or flight response. Having to make a one-minute speech in front of 20 or more people could cause stress. The fight or flight response prepares the body to run away or stay and fight, and that preparation shuts down digestion. If you’re eating breakfast when you’re having to make this stressful one-minute speech, you could be stopping the digestion of your breakfast. So the food goes nowhere, sits heavily in your stomach, and causes you discomfort, and indigestion. Are you someone who gets really nervous about making speeches just when you’re having breakfast? If you ever hear yourself say “I can’t eat right now, I’m too stressed,” consider having a nutritional consultation with me – Nina Shoroplova, Registered Holistic Nutritionist™. Balanced emotional health is one of the four pillars of holistic health. Emotional eating is a barrier to full health, whole health. A person who eats emotionally is not eating from hunger, but to fill an emotional void. Until this person recognizes and deals with their emotional imbalance, it will not be possible to improve their overall nutritional health. They will be drawn to comfort foods, habitually. If you or someone you know is in a habit of eating to console themselves, please consider seeing me – Nina Shoroplova, Registered Holistic Nutritionist™ – for a holistic nutritional consultation. News from WholeNina and Wrasma Marketing http://conta.cc/9OyFdO via @constantcontact Having sufficient stomach acid aids your digestion, activates peristalsis, aids vitamin absorption, and retains good bone health. I’ve survived five rare or fatal diseases and I know the hazards of only seeing the medical profession about whole health. The average medic gets a couple of hours of nutrition lectures; I’ve had more than a year. For example, doctors often recommend antacids for indigestion, guessing the problem is high stomach acid, not understanding that confused and low stomach acid is more likely in our high-stress society. If you or someone you know is taking Tums for indigestion and has osteoporosis, suggest they consider having a nutritional consultation with Nina Shoroplova, Registered Holistic Nutritionist™. Homeostasis is the natural ability of your body to bring itself back to balance and to heal itself. You can work with this natural ability or against it. Which one are you doing? Are your dietary and lifestyle habits assisting you to stay healthy or not? Are you on the right supplements? Are you spiritually aligned with your life path? Holistic nutrition covers all aspects of personal health. Everyone’s health can beneft. Call me – Nina Shoroplova, Registered Holistic Nutritionist™ – to arrange a nutritional consultation and get your diet and lifestyle back on track. I was halfway through having my new headshots done by Adam and Kev Photography when Adam asked, “What’s your first piece of advice to improve my nutrition?” “Chew every mouthful thoroughly, until it’s liquid,” I said. I was thinking about the fact that salivary amylase in the mouth begins the digestion of complex carbohydrates. And I was reminded of an Eastern saying: Chew your liquids and drink your solids.
Lino Stanchich, whose father survived a Nazi concentration camp by chewing every mouthful between 50 and 75 times, developed the Power Eating Program, which helps people improve their health by reconnecting with their food through better chewing. Vikki Sky has written an excellent article, “About Macrobiotics” that approaches the techniques and wisdom of thorough chewing from a range of perspectives. It’s fascinating that women in simpler times and places would first chew their baby’s food, before transferring it to the baby’s mouth, so as to break the chunks of food into smaller pieces and coat all the food with saliva for better digestion. Nowadays, we rely on big corporations to prepare baby food or we use machinery such as blenders and juicers. Is that such an improvement? Whole Nina I read recently that most North Americans require stimulation to get them through the day (in the form of caffeine, sugar, and nicotine) and sedation to get them through the night (in the form of alcohol and big meals). Can you get through a day without the following: caffeine, sugar, nicotine, alcohol, big meals? How do you feel about that? Would you prefer to get through the day under your own steam rather than by relying on outside stimulants and sedatives? If so, let’s arrange a nutritional consultation with Nina Shoroplova, Registered Holistic Nutritionist™ to get your diet and lifestyle back on track.
